Baluf de Dalis (ばるふ で だりす, Barufu de Darisu) is a character from the Valis series and Megas's sideman in the MSX2, PC-88/98 and SX68 versions of Valis II.

Baluf was Megas's information specalist since an undefined amount of time. During the events of Valis II, he supervised the construction of the Vecanta cannon, Megas's most powerful weapon to capture Valia. Although it was complete, they needed a great power source to make It work, the Phantasm jewel. Baluf sent soldiers to search for It and after some time they realized that the jewel was found first by a general of Rogles's army resistance, Gaias. After seeing the situation, Megas sent Haizen to take the object from Gaias. Haizen was successful and gave the Phantasm jewel to Baluf shortly before dying fighting against Yuuko. After their battle, Yuuko became extremely weakened. When Valia saw this, she couldn't resist to help her daughter so she went to the scene and healed her. Megas took advantage of the situation and ordered to fire his weapon. Baluf inserted the Phantasm jewel in the Vecanta cannon and told the soldiers to fire it. The cannon's beam reached to Valia, who resisted it. Megas, furious, ordered Baluf to increase the cannon's power, much to Baluf's fear, but he couldn't refuse his master's orders and sent the soldiers to increase the cannon's potential until It finally exploded, taking down Megas's tower, many soldiers and Baluf himself, but successfully capturing Valia.

Baluf seems to be an insane and bossy scientist. He is somehow brilliant as he designed and supervised the Vecanta cannon's construction, but his loyalty to Megas sometimes makes him take wrong options, scared of the reaction of his master. He also holds a disgust toward many of Rogles's generals and treats them as inferiors (as when he referred to Gaias as a stupid warrior) and seems to like jewels much like the Phantasm jewel itself when he stares amazed at the artifact.

Other than his intelligence and his range to command many of Megas's soldiers, Baluf doesn't have any other known ability as he never fought in the game where he appears.

Baluf only appeared in the MSX2, PC-88/98 and SX68 versions of Valis II where he is Megas's henchman until his death and never appears in-game, only in cutscenes.

  • Baluf is the only antagonist from Valis II to never appear in-game (only in cutscenes), thus never fights and never meets Yuuko personally. He shares this trait with Leigh from Valis III.
  • Baluf's appearance seems to be based on that of a chameleon.
  • Baluf seems to have known Gaias from somewhere in the past.
