Illusion (いるうしょん, Iruushon) is a character from the Valis series and a member of Rogles's army in the FM-77, PC-88/98 and Sharp X1 versions of Valis I.

Biography

As many of his peers, Illusion was recruited at an unknown point of the past by Rogles before the events of the first game.

In the aforementioned game, Illusion was sent by Rogles to invade South Vanity with his army while Specter invaded North Vanity. After Specter was defeated, Yuuko ran into Illusion while fighting the invasion in South Vanity. They started to battle and Yuuko emerged victorious, ending his life in the process.

Personality

Illusion's personality isn't shown too much during the game. It's presumed that, as many generals, he is loyal to Rogles.

Abilities

Illusion can levitate in the air. He can also camouflage in dark places and shoot energy balls at his enemies as an offensive skill.

Appearances

Illusion only appears in the FM-77, PC-88/98 and Sharp X1 versions of Valis I as the boss from act 4 (South Vanity).

Trivia

• Illusion's namesake comes from his camouflage skill in dark places.
• Illusion is the only boss from Valis I's home PC versions to not have appeared on the MSX version and/or was fought more than once in the game.

• 

  The first boss of Psycho Dream

  The first boss from another game made by Telenet and Riot years later, Psycho Dream for the Super Famicom/SNES, has a strong resemblance to Illusion. It even has some of his techniques. As the game is from the same creators of Valis, it's possible that this boss was inspired by him.
